I didn't hear anything at first, and then the mother-lode came in. I sent a news tip email to one of the local news stations.

You do not get attacked in broad daylight on Black Saturday and escape the limelight, even if authorities/news media didn't make her name public. If such a thing did happen on the busiest shopping weekend of the year it would have been headline news for at least 24 hours. I had been Googling for attacks at Best Buy since I first read the story and nothing came up. One friend suggested I call a tip into a local news station in New Orleans (where Char lives) and I realized that was the best way to get to the bottom of it. I got a resounding chorus agreeing with what I was seeing. Pure coincidence that Char is an aspiring novelist who has some fairly rudimentary excerpts from her work on her Facebook fan page.Īfter seeing a couple of updates on her personal Facebook page, allegedly written by her brother, I couldn't keep my suspicions to myself so I reached out to a few friends who also have no relationship with Char and I asked them if they thought I was crazy. It sounded like a pretty unlikely story unless you're one of those Harlequin romance novelists. Then the story goes that she was airlifted to a private hospital, a mysterious benefactor keeping her location and welfare safe. I don't mean to sound like a negative Nancy but the movies propagate that myth of police officers hovering by a victims bedside. Things get a bit hazy as the next part of her story explained that she woke up in a hospital and didn't know where she was so she hit the police officer who was stationed in her room. Somehow there were no witnesses and she wasn't found until a few hours later (around 3pm) by a Best Buy employee who was taking trash out. She was attacked by eight people, beaten within an inch of her life and then left for dead in a dumpster behind the store. Since then I'm extra weary when it comes to big stories, and I can tell you now I was right on target when it came to this Char thing.Įssentially the story that was shared was that Char had been attacked in the parking lot of a Best Buy at around 10am on a Saturday. He had a grandiose story for almost every event in his life however it turned out near everything he told me was a lie. I guess I should preface by saying that a couple years back I had a pathological liar as a roommate. Immediately my bullshit senses starting tingling. A few friends shared a status from Char's page. A few weeks back my Facebook news feed was filled with statuses from friends about this harrowing event Char had allegedly been through. I mean I had heard of her, we had mutual friends, but I didn't know anything of her save for the fact that whenever her name was mentioned it was something drama related. Here's a little piece she wrote that she's calling.ĬharmageddonI really had no idea who Char Hardin was before all of this. I'm proud to have Kristy Jett lend her fingers to the Impossible Funky blog. I hope to post some more interesting things going into 2014! I know not everyone finds these guys as hilarious/appalling as I do. Young was criticizing Herzberg and not Morse.Īs The Wolf Pack likes to remove their podcasts, here are the episodes:īy the way. "Oh, snap!" I thought, "He's really giving it to Eric Morse for being such a rude asshole to Rebekah Herzberg!" It took me a few minutes to realize that I had gotten it reversed.

I was rather stunned when Young started complaining about how rude it is to talk over people. On the second show, "The Analysis," Morse gets a few phone calls, including one from his usual co-host, Derek Young. He continues to rail about the Soska sisters in a rant that is nearly verbatim from his earlier shows.

On the first episode, Rebekah Herzberg calls in to try to explain to the host, Eric Morse, the differences between real friends and imaginary friends. They recently put out a pair of shows they titled "B**ches and Bullies" that boggles the mind. Our friends at the Wolf Pack podcast continue to delight and amaze with their insight and wit.
